The sounds and movements of the cat in my mothers apartment became an illusory sense of my fathers presence, as the cat was so directly associated with him. I decided to spend Maximilians’ last hours alive with him and record all his body sounds and movements.
In the work you enter a cats’ body, magnified and amplified into a creature much larger than a human being. I wanted to approximate the experience of the cat, who’s unable to see or hear, but moves around by using smell, sensory hair and memory – resembling some kind of subterranean animal.
